The Traffic Enforcement Division

The Traffic Enforcement Division, housed within the Jamaica Constabulary Force Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, is focused on developing safe and efficient traffic management systems to reduce road violations and lower road fatalities.

It is through this Division that the Road Traffic Act and Regulations is enforced island-wide and the Division’s continued expansion and modernisation has allowed it to deliver better responses to increased traffic challenges.

The Division’s optimal performance is based on:

1. High Visibility: Police personnel wear bright neon vests and helmets to ensure they are easily seen by road users, reinforcing their presence.

2. Proactive Engagement: Instead of waiting for violations to occur, officers actively patrol known trouble spots to prevent incidents before they happen.

3. Community Relations: By building positive relationships with both motorists and pedestrians, the division encourages voluntary compliance with traffic rules.

4. Data-Driven Deployment: The division uses traffic data and analytics to identify high-risk locations and peak times, allowing for more targeted and effective enforcement.
