
The Caribbean Search Centre (CSC) is a collaborative security initiative between the British and Jamaican governments. Established on June 8, 2001 at the Jamaica Police Academy in Twickenham Park, St. Catherine, it is one of only two such facilities globally.
Initial Search Training Areas: CSC members received specialised training in various types of searches, including Persons, Buildings (non-disruptive),Vessels, Vehicles, Prisons, Aircraft, Venues and Missing persons.
Founding Agencies: Personnel were selected from four key agencies within Jamaica’s Ministry of National Security:
- The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF)
- The Jamaica Defense Force (JDF)
- The Department of Correctional Services (DCS), and
- The Jamaica Customs Department (JCD)
Core Objectives of the CSC are to:
- Support law enforcement with professional, safe, and lawful search operations that minimise disruption and damage.
- Enhance the capabilities of Caribbean security forces in detecting and preventing the trafficking of illegal drugs, firearms, ammunition, and contraband through regional ports.
- Offer training and expert guidance in systematic search techniques to regional law enforcement agencies.
