Band Division

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Band is one of the organisation’s most impactful community relations assets.

Established in March 1958, the JCF Band made its debut public performance in November of that year at Fort Charles, Port Royal, in Kingston, Jamaica and since then has been a prolific arm of the Force through glowing representation locally and within the region.

Comprised of serving police officers, the Band allows members the opportunity to utilise their musical talents in service to their country through law enforcement. It performs at a number of occasions, including national celebrations, police ceremonial functions, and community-based events.

The Band Division goes beyond just mere entertainment however, supporting community and people development through:

  1. Music lessons for youth
  2. Homework assistance programmes
  3. Police Youth Club activities, and
  4. Motivational sessions for at-risk individuals

A point of pride for this Unit also has been its role in sharing the culture of Jamaica and promoting the ideals of the JCF as a Force for Good with international audiences.

With an ability to blend the formalities of policing with the soothing melodies of music, the Band bridges the police with the public, thus helping to redefine a relationship that can stand on mutual confidence and trust, while reinforcing the JCF’s commitment to citizen security.
