The Constabulary Communications Network (CCN), formerly known as the Police Information Center (PIC) or Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), was established in 1976 during a state of emergency to enhance crime reporting and ensure accurate communication beyond media capabilities.
As the official information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), CCN is dedicated to building confidence and credibility with Jamaica Constabulary Force stakeholders. Through strategic processes, CCN continues to help the JCF to:
- Build and boost awareness, confidence, respect and trust amongst its stakeholders, and define healthier perceptions of policing.
- Understand and strategically respond to public expectations for policing services
- Enhance its corporate identity, and attract and sustain lucrative supporters and partners.
- Institute brand guardrails in keeping with the Force’s thrust towards being a modern law enforcement entity.
- Establish its authority and prompt compliance in law enforcement matters.
- Influence conversations and decisions concerning policing, and position thought leaders to guide narratives on law enforcement.
- Communicate and institutionalise internal performance standards that are appreciated and embraced by members, leading to a continued commitment to a culture of excellence.
- Nurture local and international media relations, leading to improved press accuracy, greater coverage of the Force’s successes and widespread appreciation of the JCF as a Force for Good.
In 2023, CCN played a pivotal role in the JCF’s historic Marketing Excellence award win from the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce—the first-ever nomination and victory for a law enforcement agency. This recognition highlighted the JCF’s innovative digital engagement and strategic use of social media in transforming stakeholder communication.
