The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Specialised Operations was established on August 12, 2019, following the decommissioning of the Mobile Reserve Branch.
Formed in response to rising levels of violent crime, particularly by armed gangs, Specialised Operations represents a strategic shift in law enforcement, enhancing the JCF’s ability to respond to high-risk threats through a more structured, tactical, and intelligence-driven approach.
As a centralised and specialised unit, Specialised Operations is equipped to support all Areas, Branches, and Divisions of the JCF based on strategic priorities, crime trends, and operational needs. The unit’s mandate includes restoring order in high-risk environments and transitioning communities back to standard policing models.
