The Ports Division is dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment for the movement of goods and the arrival and departure of citizens and international visitors through Jamaica’s key ports of entry.
On June 17, 2013, the Ports Division was reorganised and elevated to a Super Division, enhancing its capacity to manage and oversee port-related policing activities more effectively.
The division encompasses several strategically located police stations, including:
- Norman Manley International Airport Police Station
- Sangster International Airport Police Station
- Ian Fleming International Airport Police Station
- Newport West Police Station
- Freeport Police Station
The Ports Division monitors and manages activities at Jamaica’s major ports, a critical function in national security, by:
- Tracking the arrival and departure of passengers, both local and international, with a focus on safety and order.
- Overseeing air freight operations, including the storage, handling, and dispatch of cargo.
- Ensuring the secure transportation of persons and goods to and from port facilities.
- Maintaining a visible police presence to prevent and respond to criminal activities associated with port operations.
By fulfilling these duties, the Ports Division supports the smooth operation of Jamaica’s trade and travel infrastructure, contributing to both national security and economic development.
