Telecommunications Division

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Telecommunications Division is dedicated to maintaining a reliable and effective communication network that supports law enforcement operations and contributes to safer communities across Jamaica. Guided by principles of courtesy, integrity, and respect, the division strives to stay at the forefront of technology, ensuring seamless communication for JCF personnel.

Established in 1950 under Retired Commissioner W.A. Calver, the division was initially based at Kingston Central Police Station before relocating in 1957 to its current headquarters at 16 Lower Elletson Road, where the Radio Control Centre was also introduced.

With a team of highly trained professionals, the division plays a vital role in installing, maintaining, and upgrading JCF’s telecommunications infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Installing emergency devices (sirens & flashers) on JCF vehicles
  2. Maintaining microwave & repeater sites across the island
  3. Servicing standby generators at JCF locations
  4. Handling air conditioning & electrical maintenance
  5. Programming and maintaining portable & mobile radios
  6. Extracting and managing data from CCTV, telephone, and radio storage devices
